Triund Trek in Himachal Pradesh – A Complete Guide for Trekker

The total distance of the Triund trek is 9 km. The base point of the trek is Galu Devi Temple which is not so far from Mcleodganj. The Triund trek is known for its 22 sharp curves. The first 6 km of the trek is easy to cover, but the last 2 km is tricky.
Best time to visit Triund:
For a mountain lover, any time of a year is an ideal time for trekking, but for an ordinary person, the best time to do this trek is autumn and springtime. In monsoon, due to heavy rainfall, all kinds of adventure activities like camping, rafting, biking, hiking etc are suspended. The views of the backgrounds are not clear at all.
There are fog and leeches all around. In winters, due to heavy snowfall, roads are blocked. The trails are not clear and are covered with snow. The months of January and February receive heavy snowfall. The temperature remains somewhere between 5-degree Celsius to 1-degree celsius. The temperature may go as down as minus 5-degree celsius at night. The best time to visit Triund is in the months of March to June and September to Early November. The views of lush meadows and green pastures with clear blue skies along with the snow-capped Dhauladhar are mind-blowing. Due to excessive snowfall and rainfall, the trail becomes difficult to hike on. The trail gets slippery and muddy. So it is advisable to avoid trekking in monsoon and winter season.

Triund is an easy trek and it is a perfect choice for first-time trekkers. The whole trek is 9km from which 2 km has steep climbs. And the initial 5 km is very easy to climb. Triund trek has sharp 22 curves. Though you do not need prior trekking experience or any physical exercises. You just need to keep yourself energetic and hydrated throughout the journey.
Carry energy bars and protein bars with you. Many tea stalls and eating joints will be on your way. You can take adequate breaks and have something to eat and drink on time to time.
How to reach-
The best way to reach Triund in Mcleodganj or Dharamshala by taking a bus from Delhi. You can also take a direct train from Delhi to Pathankot railway station which is the nearest railway station in Mcleodganj region. From there you can take a taxi or cab to reach Mcleodganj.
If you plan to come via Air, the nearest airport is Gaggal airport. You can take a flight from Delhi to Gaggal Airport and then take a cab to reach Mcleodganj.
Triund is a weekend trek and can be done in max. 2 days. It is a perfect hideout with friends. The best thing about this trek is it can be planned any time. You can easily reach Mcleodganj or Dharamshala by an overnight bus journey from Delhi or Chandigarh. The adventure trip will give you a lot of experience and a chance to explore natural surroundings.
